Spotting Eye Problems

Signs that a child may have vision problems include:

  • constant eye rubbing

  • extreme light sensitivity

  • poor focusing

  • poor visual tracking (following an object)

  • abnormal alignment or movement of the eyes (after 6 months of age)

Watch your child for signs of poor vision or crossed eyes. If you notice any eye problems, have your child examined right away so that the problem doesn't become permanent. If caught early, eye conditions often can be corrected.

What to Expect in Kid's Eye Exams

  • Vision (visual acuity) test – We test how well your child sees at different distances.

  • Pupil test – We check how your child’s eyes respond to light

  • Eye movement test – The doctor or eye technician moves a toy or finger in different directions to check how your child’s eyes follow it

The doctor looks at the front part of the eyes, including the eyelids, cornea (clear covering over the front of the eye) and lens.

Dr.Pranali Sirohi

Optometrist, a Mother of two adorable kids and a Proud Small Business Owner.

I have been practicing for 8 years in Naperville treating eye diseases, performing comprehensive eye exams on all ages and fitting specialized contact lenses such as multifocal, gas permeable, and hybrid lenses.

I loves seeing kids and our current patients often decide to bring their children for their vision care.  Being a mother,  my enthusiasm and patience make me perfect for kids.

I focus on educating my younger patients about their eye health. I also teach younger patients about the importance of preventing sun damage and wearing the appropriate glasses to see and do well in school.

I believe a child's first eye care experience should be a fun one. I'm often the first eye doctor kids see, so I try to make that first experience a great one. Great eye health habits start when kids are young, so I want to make going to the eye doctor fun

SCHEDULE YOUR CHILD'S

BACK TO SCHOOL EYE EXAMS

Back-to-school eye exams are the best way for parents to ensure that their child’s eyes are healthy, or to get a proper prescription if eyeglasses or contacts are needed.

Pediatric Optometrist can also help detect more serious vision concerns as well as learning related vision problems early on.

Proper vision is essential for student learning and annual eye exams help make sure your child has clear vision which will help him/her concentrate better and in turn perform better.
